new obsession!

I came across this exhibition, and I'm really excited about Glenn Ligon's work... The title of this show says enough as to why I'm currently obsessed.
yay! :)

Glenn Ligon's most comprehensive exhibition thus far.

It's going to Fort Worth next, and I'm hoping I'll be able to catch it when I visit my sister!!

  3. The paintings look like they're developing really nicely Dawn. One thing I would think about is how ordered the layers seem. For example, if you're adding yellow dots to the piece, can they exist in different layers? It would allow you to really play with the sense of space within the surface.

  4. Dawn.. these are really special pieces.

Can you do anything with receipts? I don't know why I thought about that. What kind of words are you going to put in your encaustic?

  5. Did you mean Glenn's work? If so, I agree, they are amazing!
If you meant my work, then thank you so much! :)

I could work with receipts in the future, it's a good idea! Thanks! Right now though, I've been most interested in trying out the use of my own words. I'm starting with text that I think reflects a certain type of anxiety. some poetic, some a lot more prose-like. It's still evolving though, so I'm open to trying other poets' text, found text etc. Ah! So many options!

haha that's the beauty of art though, huh? Moe was right I guess... always ask questions, questions open up more questions and it's a never-ending field in which to grow.
